NEW YORK’S SANCTUARY CITY POLICY AT WORK

Here is Fox New Channel’s Bill Melugin’s tweet about an example of New York’s “Sanctuary City” policy at work:

NEW: ICE is blasting NYC’s sanctuary policies after they say a Dominican illegal alien charged w/ sexually abusing a child under the age of 11 was released into the public by NYPD w/ ICE’s detainer ignored, despite the alien having an active deportation order since 2018.

ICE later found & arrested Robert Reid Mendez Jimenez after his release by NYPD two weeks ago.

ICE statement:

“This case shows the real cost of ignoring ICE detainers: Violent offenders walk free, and public safety is put at risk,” said ICE ERO Newark acting Field Office Director Ruben Perez. “I’m proud of our deportation officers, who tracked him down and took him into custody — removing a dangerous predator from the streets within weeks of his release into the community.”

The good news is that jimenez was eventually found and arrested by ICE agents.

The bad news is that a child was allegedly sexually abused…and, “sanctuary city”-wise, the people responsible for keeping New York City residents safe decided it was more desirable to let the alleged sexual abuser go/put him right back on the streets, than allow ICE to arrest him.

Do you need me to draw the logical conclusion?  I assume not.
