I watched coverage of robert mueller’s statement on this morning’s NBC Today Show.
And what did it feature? A screen with this:
ON OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE:
NOT CLEARING
THE PRESIDENT
Do you consider this a neutral representation of what mueller’s report said? If you do, tell me whether this would have been 100% as accurate:
ON OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE:
NOT ACCUSING
THE PRESIDENT
If so, you’ve got it right. At no point in robert mueller’s statement does he accuse the President of a thing. But mueller made sure to present his non-accusation in a way that enabled NBC to put up this entirely misleading screen and, no doubt, convince most of its viewers that mueller said Trump was guilty of something. Which, again, he did not.
What mueller did do, however, is intentionally state his non-accusation in away that enabled the NBC’s of the world (and, I have no doubt, countless other media venues) to mislead the public.
Do these people really call themselves journalists? Yeah, right. And Rachel Maddow just got engaged to Roy Moore.
