I put on the Today Show this morning, expecting that even as compromised a “news” department as the one at NBC would be featuring Devon Archer’s testimony to the House Oversight Committee.
After all, Archer’s Testimony specifically made Joe Biden out to be a liar regarding his involvement in son, hunter’s, business dealings…and the reason hunter and “the big guy” got all that money from Burisma, among other foreign entities.
But I was wrong.
The “coverage” of this testimony came almost 18 minutes into the hour, and only after a very positive story about the women’s soccer team (the team comprised mostly of players who diss our national anthem) and NBC’s requisite “now we got him” report on Donald Trump….
…with the “coverage” clearly suggesting that Archer’s testimony barely touched Joe Biden at all.
For anyone who wants a far more honest take on Archer’s testimony, read these excerpts from today’s Wall Street Journal editorial:
Everyone knows Hunter Biden wasn’t selling his expertise in energy markets when he teamed up for lucrative gigs with energy companies from Ukraine and China. But then what was he selling? The answer, as provided Monday by Hunter’s former business partner Devon Archer, was the Biden “brand.”
Mr. Archer testified behind closed doors to the House Oversight Committee, and we await the transcript to see his complete testimony. But according to a summary released by Oversight Chairman James Comer, Mr. Archer confirmed that Hunter was promoting the Biden family name and the political access it implied.
This is no great surprise given what we’ve already learned about Hunter Biden’s work with Burisma, the Ukrainian energy firm, and CEFC China Energy. Mr. Archer told the committee that Hunter put his father, then serving as Vice President, on speakerphone during business meetings more than 20 times, in order to sell “the brand.”
Mr. Archer also confirmed that Burisma executives put heavy pressure on Hunter to leverage his connections to handle an investigation into the company by former Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin. Joe Biden has publicly taken credit for getting Mr. Shokin fired—based on claims that the prosecutor investigating corruption was himself corrupt.
Mr. Comer says Mr. Archer also told the committee that Joe Biden attended other Hunter business meetings in person—in Beijing and in Washington, D.C.—with Chinese and Russian businesspeople. This runs against President Biden’s claims that he never discussed those business dealings with his son.
Funny how this part of the testimony somehow eluded the NBC “news” people……or maybe not so funny at all.
Not at all surprisingly, therefore, “coverage” of this testimony on NBC’s website minimizes Joe Biden’s behavior.
But just in case you think it’s only NBC, I also checked the websites for ABC and CBS:
–ABC’s “coverage is about one-third of the way down, and it leans heavily to the premise that Devon Archer divulged little of any serious consequence.
–CBS’s “coverage“ is even less visible, almost at the bottom of its site – as the fourth story down under “Politics”, which means as few people as possible would even notice it, let alone read it. But if they did, they’d that there was nothing particularly explosive there, just two sides arguing over what the almost two dozen business calls Joe Biden was brought into meant.
There you have it, folks. If you rely on one or another of the three major networks for your news, that’s what you “know” about Devon Archer’s testimony.
This should be very reassuring….if you happen to be on the Biden Re-election Committee.
If not, I would hope this troubles you to the core.
Keep ’em ignorant and you own ’em.
