Yesterday, two earthquakes hit Venezuela, near Caracas. The first registered at 7.2, which is a major earthquake. The second registered at 7.5.
As of now, apart from the massive damage to infrastructure, hundreds are known dead and many thousands are missing/unaccounted for. It is a very good bet that the ultimate death toll will be in the thousands.
My sympathies to the citizens of Venezuela who will have to deal with this horrific natural disaster. President Trump has pledged that we will rapidly provide significant aid to the victims…and, one would hope, other countries will do the same.
I hope they get through this tragedy as well as it would be possible to do so.
