Here are the opening paragraphs of Andrew Malcolm’s article about the newly released book, “Shattered”, which reams Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign with information that could only have come from the inside:
We should probably have expected, with the publication this week of a tell-all book called “Shattered,” that the decaying remnants of Hillary Clinton’s defunct campaign would launch a witch hunt (no pun intended).
They’re seeking to hunt down the identities of the high-ranking campaign staff that fed all these revealing, juicy anecdotes and details to a pair of journalists. Ed (Morrissey) wrote about the book’s publication here. We now know, for instance, the stricken campaign was afflicted with disorganization, over-confidence, enmity and Bill Clinton.
The campaign had no central message and, worse, it featured an unpleasant but clueless Hillary Clinton, who confided to a close friend, “I don’t understand what’s happening in the country.”
She still doesn’t.
Hmmm.
I guess there is such a thing as internal leaks. I guess there were supporters of Hillary Clinton who saw the problems of this ill-fated campaign as they were happening. I guess negative material on Ms. Clinton can come from some source other than Vladimir Putin’s basement in Moscow.
It’s not that anyone needs a heads-up to figure out that Hillary Clinton was an extraordinarily lousy candidate and her campaign was a mess. But it’s a lot more credible coming from the people who experienced her and the campaign first-hand.
Think she’ll run again in 2020? Donald Trump can’t wait.
