Perhaps you remember the name William H. Ginsburg.
Mr. Ginsburg was a successful, but obscure, Los Angeles lawyer, specializing in medical malpractice cases….until he became the lawyer of record for Monica Lewinsky. And, for that reason, he became a media superstar; the toast of Sunday Morning talk shows, appearing on all five major shows in one day (now known as doing “The Full Ginsburg”).
His celebrity did not last very long, however, and in a short period of time he was back to being a successful, but obscure Los Angeles lawyer.
Mr. Ginsburg died of cancer in 2013, at the age of 70. But his tradition seems to be carrying on. Now we have Michael Avenatti.
Michael Avenatti may be a higher-profile lawyer than William Ginsburg was. But his most notable claim to fame has quickly become the fact that he represents Stephanie Clifford, AKA Stormy Daniels, the former porn actress/current men’s club stripper, who claims to have had sex with Donald Trump 12 years ago.
There is a bit of a problem, though. The country was transfixed by Bill Clinton’s dalliance with Monica Lewinsky – a powerless White House intern about the same age as Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea.
By contrast, other than Democrats and assorted other Trump-haters, no one seems to care very much whether Trump did the nasty with Stormy Daniels – probably because no one would be surprised a bit if it happened.
Will any of this change as time goes by? Maybe yes, maybe no. But, for the moment, the Trump/Daniels thing seems to be little more than a tempest in a sexpot.
At least Avenatti wasn’t on all five Sunday shows…..
