LYING ABOUT AMNESTY

Question:  Why wouldn’t the Obama administration lie about amnesty, when it lies about everything else?

Answer:  There is no answer.  The Obama administration does lie about everything else, and lies about amnesty too.

Excerpted from yesterday’s article at foxnews.com:

A federal judge sharply scolded a Justice Department attorney at a hearing on President Obama’s immigration executive actions, suggesting that the administration misled him on a key part of the program — and that he fell for it, “like an idiot.”

The testy court hearing was held Thursday in Texas by U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen. The judge suggested he could order sanctions against the administration if he finds they indeed misrepresented the facts.

Obama’s executive actions would spare from deportation as many as 5 million people who are in the U.S. illegally. Many Republicans oppose the actions, saying only Congress has the right to take such sweeping action. Twenty-six states led by Texas joined together to challenge them as unconstitutional. Hanen on Feb. 16 sided with the states, issuing a preliminary injunction blocking Obama’s actions.

Hanen chided Justice Department attorney Kathleen Hartnett for telling him at a January hearing before the injunction was issued that nothing would be happening with regard to one key part of Obama’s actions, an expansion of the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA, until Feb. 18.

“Like an idiot I believed that,” Hanen said.

Hartnett continued to insist that the 108,081 reprieves had been granted under 2012 guidelines, which were not stopped by the injunction, and that government attorneys hadn’t properly explained this because they had been focused on other parts of the proposed action.

But Hanen pointed out that the 2012 guidelines only granted two-year reprieves and that three-year reprieves are being proposed under the program now on hold.

Liar.

Can you even begin to imagine what the media reaction – from venues other than Fox and a few others, that is – would be if this were George Bush and his Attorney General trotted out some underling to flat-out lie to a federal judge’s face?

And what was she lying about?  About flooding the country with illegal aliens…for the obvious purpose of, in short order, reinventing them as “legal” Democrat voters, that’s what.

Which makes suckers out of every person who tries to become a citizen by obeying the law.

Without going into the details, I am currently teaching a course – as a matter of confidentiality I won’t give any details about it (nothing sinister here, it’s just good practice) to a large number of people who are mostly of Asian descent and mostly, I believe Muslims…a good number of whom are in the process of becoming US citizens.

Three things to be said about them:

1) They are exactly the kind of people this country needs and should want.  People who are here to contribute, not to take, and who value citizenship in this country beyond what its welfare programs and social safety net provides.

2) They are living proof that Muslims comprise a wide range of people, from the best to the worst (them being from the “best” category) – just like every other religion I am aware of.  People who generalize about Muslims based on ISIS or al Qaeda, or boko haram, as if those lunatics describe all people of Islamic faith, are not displaying intelligence or common sense, they are displaying ignorance and prejudice.

3. The Obama administration’s transparently political push for “amnesty” diminishes them, and every other person who goes through the rigors of legally becoming a citizen, because it means that, to Obama & Co. they are wasting their time.

What a tragedy for our country.  How avidly I await the end of this nightmare administration.
