mai vang is a member of the Sacramento (California, of course) city council. And when the pledge of allegiance is stated at council meetings, she not only refuses to join other members in reciting it, but turns her back to the flag.
Why? Here is her answer:

Got that? She loves her country, but her country causes injustice and harm around the world.
Very credible, I’m sure…if you have an IQ in single digits.
vang is now running for congress in California’s 7th district – which has been represented only by Democrats since 1953 – against incumbent Doris Matsui. If she wins the June 2 primary, there is virtually no doubt she will win the election and go to congress….where she can turn her back on the flag to her heart’s content.
I don’t know much about incumbent Matsui, other than she succeeded her deceased husband as the house member from that district in 2005 and has been dutifully Democrat ever since. But, sight unseen, I doubt she could be worse than mai vang.
That said, however, we’re talking about California, and that is a hardline Democrat district.
