Remember that uplifting, super-positive Democrat convention in Chicago? Remember Oprah Winfrey raising her arms and promising that Kamala Harris would be sending us a message of “joy”?
So how’d that work out?
Your answer is embodied in the fact that Kamala Harris’s end game, based on yesterday’s town hall on CNN and the material emanating from her campaign, is to call Donald Trump a fascist and an admirer/a wannabe of hitler:
Anderson Cooper: “Do you think Donald Trump is a fascist?”
Kamala Harris: “Yes, I do. Yes, I do.”
Further on in the town hall:
Kamala Harris: “I believe that Donald Trump is dangerous. As the President of the United States, the commander in chief, he’s saying to his generals, in essence, why can’t you be more like hitler’s generals? Come on!”
Vice President Harris’s problem here is two-fold.
-First, there is the timing. The claim that he is fascistic/a hitler wannabe comes from John Kelly, a former Trump Chief Of Staff who now hates him with a passion, and is supposedly based on something Trump said years ago, which no other person is corroborating. Kelly could have gone public any time at all for years, including any time in this presidential campaign.
Do Harris and her campaign people think that his sudden, out-of-nowhere claim, less than two weeks from election day, isn’t suspicious? A calculated, programmed event?
-And then there is the fact that Donald Trump has a four year record as President. If he were a closet fascist/a hitler advocate, how come he did absolutely nothing fascistic or hitlerian for those four years?
Simply stated, this is the kind of stuff you pull late in an election when, after you’ve tried everything else, your opponent is gaining momentum and things are slipping away. So you toss out a “hail mary” – in this case the fascist/hitler claim – because, at this point, you have nothing to lose.
In short? Joy has become desperation.
Will it work? See me after November 5.
