My congratulations to the “protesters” in Ferguson, with a special shout-out to the rioters and looters who took down the main shopping street two different times.
In September Ferguson\’s K-Mart decided to shut its doors. And now, just before Christmas, Big Lots has announced it will do the same.
The folks at both companies say their closures have nothing to do with the rioting and looting. Try and find anyone who believes them.
And, to nobody\’s surprise, several smaller stores which were looted and/or burned out will not re-open.
So how many jobs have been lost – so far – because the carnage visited upon Ferguson was allowed to take place two times? How many people are out of work now? How many small business owners are ruined?
But, then again, who cares? It\’s still fun to march around screaming “Hands up don\’t shoot” – even though the autopsy proved that did not happen. Hey, never let a good lie go to waste. Besides, if you keep marching and screaming, al sharpton won\’t call you a racist. Isn\’t that special?
It can be argued that the first round of rioting and looting started up very quickly, so the police were taken by surprise/unable to do much about it (I don\’t believe that crap, but I can at least see the possibility).
The second time, everyone knew it was coming. And Governor Jay Nixon, who called up the National Guard specifically to prevent this from happening, made the beyond-belief decision not to send them in — thereby overseeing, even facilitating, the town\’s destruction.
If he had any decency he would resign. But he doesn\’t.
