JUDGE LAURA JOHNSON DOUBLES DOWN

Yesterday I blogged about laura johnson, the New York City judge who released a “man” threatening to kill cops – one with a criminal record of violence and gun charges – without bail.

Well, it turns out that she was just getting warmed up.

Excerpted from Josh Saul, Jamie Schram and Bruce Golding\’s unbelievable article in today\’s New York Post:

Aday after freeinga gang member who posted an anti-cop death threat online, aBrooklyn judge ignored the admonishment of a court boss – andsprung a man who allegedly punched a police officer and threatened tokill his colleagues, The Post has learned.

CriminalCourt Judge Laura Johnson blatantly disregarded an Office of CourtAdministration boss who said she “should be setting an example tothe public that threatening or assaulting police officers isn\’t anacceptable thing,” a courthouse source said.

Theadmonishment came in the wake of Saturday\’s execution-styleslayings of two NYPD cops as they sat in a patrol car in Brooklyn.

“Thecourt administrator told her she exercised poor judgment, and thatshe had a case on later that night, and that she should exercisebetter judgment in that case,” the source said.

“Itwas a stern conversation,” the source added. “And she totallyignored it.”

OnTuesday night, Johnson released Travis Maye, 26, without bailfollowing his arrest in a violent melee with cops earlier that day.

Accordingto court records, Maye took swings at cops at Flatbush Avenue andProspect Place at around 1:35 a.m., socking one officer in the eyeand sending him to the hospital.

Can you come to any conclusion other than that johnson is just fine with – maybe even rooting for – cops to be injured or killed?

Why is this sack of manure on the bench?  And when does Mayor de blasio condemn her for so clearly, so intentionally, putting NYPD officers in danger?

I don\’t know what kind of record travis maye has (though I would bet it isn\’t a very good one).  But, as I noted in yesterday\’s blog, the “man” she set free without bail after he overtly threatened the police, devon coley, is currently awaiting trial on charges of assault and gun possession.  It is an excellent bet, therefore, that coley is a violent thug who does not restrict his exercise of those traits to cops.

I wish harm on no one.   Let me say that again:  I wish harm on no one.

But if devon coley, whose freedom to ply his apparent trade is 100% due to judge laura johnson, strikes again – or travis maye, who told the cops he would “find out where you live” and that “you will die” – decides to attack a civilian, I hope the victim is johnson herself.  She is the one who put these “men” on the street, thus endangering the decent people of New York City.  If it has to happen to someone, let that someone be her.

UPDATE: It turns out that Johnson\’s term of office expires on Wednesday.  de blasio is “considering” whether or not to reappoint her.  A decision to keep her on will tell you everything you need to know about his attitude toward the decent people of New York – especially cops.
