JONATHAN TURLEY EXPLAINS WHY AN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY IS A MUST

Professor Jonathan Turley – one of the still small but steadily growing number of Democrats who can no longer look the other way at what their party has become and where it is headed – has just written a (typically) excellent commentary on why an impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s actions vis his son hunter is a must.

Here is the key segment:

In September, I testified at the first impeachment inquiry hearing and stated that the evidence had clearly passed the threshold for such an inquiry. While there was no requirement to hold a formal vote to start this process (as the Democrats did with Trump), I encouraged the members to hold such a vote.

Since that hearing, the evidence has only mounted against President Biden. It is now clear that Biden lied when he maintained as a candidate, and later as president, that he had no knowledge of his son’s business dealings with foreign interests. Even Hunter himself contradicted the president on this claim.

It is also now clear that he lied in denying that his son never made money in China. The indictment confirms massive transfers from Chinese sources.

It is also clear that Hunter was engaged in raw influence peddling. This included threatening at least one Chinese businessman that his father was sitting next to him and would retaliate against him if he did not send millions to the Bidens.

President Biden also lied when he claimed this week that he had not had any “interactions” with his son’s business associates. There are emails, audiotapes and testimony now disproving that claim.

Millions of dollars flowed to Biden family members through a labyrinth of shell companies and accounts. Hunter Biden sent emails saying that up to half of his income went to his father while they used shared accounts and credit cards for expenses.

Even Biden associates now admit that they were selling “the Biden brand” and influence with Joe Biden. Advocates simply argue that they were merely selling the “illusion” of influence.

It is now time to see if a single Democratic member will stand against corruption and support an inquiry into the president’s role and later cover-up of this corruption. That includes the use of White House staff to spread false claims and attack critics.

Professor Turley won’t say in so many words that the Biden family – not just Joe and hunter, but also Joe’s brother James among others – is, in a very real sense, a criminal enterprise.  But the content and direction of what he has written makes that more than clear.

And, to make matters worse for Biden & Co., the public seems to know it.

Doubt me?  Then look at Biden’s approval ratings over the past month:

If this were just one or two polls, my skepticism over political polling would kick in.  But this is over a dozen polls from different companies.  Can they all be wrong?  At some point you have to believe what is in front of your eyes.

And then there are the results of this Associated Press poll from October:

Over two-thirds (68%) say Biden has acted illegally or unethically – including 40% of Democrats.

And that, not surprisingly, is translating into horrible presidential match-up poll numbers as well.

Illustratively, as of right now, Donald Trump – about as polarizing a figure as there is in politics – leads Biden in most national polls.  A just-released Wall Street Journal Poll not only shows shows Trump 4% ahead of Biden (47% – 43%), but also shows Nikki Haley ahead of Biden by an absolutely astounding 17% (51% – 34%).

Now:  what happens if an impeachment inquiry is voted by the House of Representatives?  How does Biden explain away what Jonathan Turley has methodically and accurately laid out?  And, if/when that inquiry takes place, taken along with the polling data outlined above, how can Democrats still put up what’s left of Biden as their 2024 candidate?

To be continued…
