jay jones is the Democrat candidate for Attorney General of Virginia.
We have learned that, in speaking and texting with Republican Carrie Coyner, jones wished death on Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert, wished death on his children, and said that if Republicans die before him he would piss on their graves. He does not dispute any of this…and can’t, since he left a paper trail. Here is part of it:

Now we find out that, in addition, Coyner says jones also wished death on police officers.
Coyner said Monday morning: “We had a pretty heated conversation about public policy and pain involving qualified immunity. I served on the Courts Committee for a short period of time. A bill to remove qualified immunity for police officers, which protects police officers from personal liability in their line of duty and their line of work, and he believed that they should not have qualified immunity, and he was trying to convince me to agree with that, and I said, ‘No, police officers have to make a split second decision about whether or not to shoot a gun to protect themselves or protect others. And if they’re having to think about, will this strip my whole family of everything … are they going to be able to make that split-second decision?’ And I said, ‘I believe that people will get killed. Police officers will get killed.’ And he said, ‘Well, maybe if a few of them died, that they would move on, not shooting people, not killing people.’ And I said, ‘that’s insane.’
jones denies this. But why in the world would you believe him? Is it improbable that someone who said the things he admits to would also say that about police?
Maybe jones thinks that, if he can convince anyone he didn’t wish death on police, the fact that he wished death on Todd Gilbert, his children, and would piss on the graves of his political opponents somehow is ameliorated.
It isn’t.
Now, what is Democrat Gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger supposed to do?
If she had any guts or integrity she would distance herself from this sack of manure and demand that he step down. But there’s a problem: almost 300,000 people in Virginia have already early-voted. And if jones goes, those Democrat votes for Attorney General go too, which almost insures the Republican will win.
So Spanberger – along with the Democrat Party of Virginia – is sticking by jones…
…and, by so doing, showing Virginians who have not yet voted that she supports a “man” who would say these things to be the state’s Attorney General – i.e. the state’s chief law enforcement officer.
What a complete, utter mess.
I am now waiting to see new political polling from Virginia, that has been been compiled after her statement of support for jay jones. It will tell us a great deal about what will happen in next month’s election…and a great deal about the mindset of Virginia voters.
