As you may be aware, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-AZ), Chairperson of the House Intelligence Committee, has announced he will not run for reelection in 2018, and may resign his seat before the end of his current term.
Mr. Chaffetz assures us his departure would be entirely voluntary; there is nothing going on that is causing him to abruptly leave the house this way.
If Mr. Chaffetz is telling the truth, he is the first House member I have ever heard of who suddenly just up and left without something hanging over his head and forcing him out.
