Go \’way from my windowLeave at your own chosen speedI\’m not the one you want, babeI\’m not the one you needYou say you\’re lookin\’ for someoneWho\’s never weak but always strongTo protect you an\’ defend youWhether you are right or wrongSomeone to open each and every doorBut it ain\’t me, babeNo, no, no, it ain\’t me, babeIt ain\’t me you\’re lookin\’ for, babe.
Those lyrics were written and performed by the 1960\’s folk singer Bob Dylan.
A half century later, President Barack Obama re-invented them in a speech about what he is – or, more exactly, is not – going to do about the scourge of international terrorism by radical Islam, which just took place again in our country (anyone who tells you this is the first time it has happened under Mr. Obama needs a lot of education).
Nothing new, nothing different. Just another strongly stated claim that he is doing everything right and we are in the process of decimating the terrorist threat.
See, to admit what he is doing is not working is to admit that he is wrong about something. And Barack Obama does not admit he is wrong about anything.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Nope.
This time, some (not all by any stretch, but a good number ) of his usually stalwart media venues are having trouble covering for him – very much including the gang at the Today Show.
Even current odds-on favorite for the Democrat nomination Hillary Clinton, using the platitudes she always speaks in when talking to a general audience, is trying to distance herself from this rah-rah speech.
It is a very simple equation. If you think the United States is addressing international terrorism effectively and doing everything it can do to vanquish is, that speech was just fine. If you don\’t, that speech was an insult to your intelligence.
Your call.
