Israel has spent decades handing tangible concessions over to Palestinian Arabs\’ unelected leaders*, and getting noting tangible in return; only a series of promises which are then routinely broken.
Since most mainstream media – even media which occasionally make mention of how complete the disconnect is between what Palestinian Arab leaders promise and what they deliver, I thought I would provide this link – to thetower.org\’s analysis of what has been promised by these serial frauds, and how it has been ignored.
Let me give you a small taste of its contents:
TheConvention on the Rights of the Child and the Optional Protocol tothe Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement ofChildren in Armed Conflict
WhatThey Mean: TheConvention on the Rightsof the Child establishes civil, cultural, economic, political andsocial rights for anyone under the age of 18. This includesfreedom from economic exploitation (enumerated in Article 32) andthe right to education (enumerated in Article 28). The OptionalProtocol to the Convention mandates that statesnot recruit children under 18 for positions in their armedforces, and establish appropriate safeguards to prevent children fromjoining.
PalestinianViolations: Children\’srights are violated across territories claimed as the “State ofPalestine.” Save the Children reportsthat under the rule of Hamas and the Palestinian Authority,Palestinian children are “denied their rights to freedom ofmovement, education, health and an adequate standard of living,”all of which are rights guaranteed by the CRC. Notably, a 2012US Departmentof Labor report found that “the Palestinian Authority…mademinimal advancement in efforts to eliminate the worst forms of childlabor…Children continue to engage in the worst forms of child laborin dangerous activities in agriculture and on the streets.” Hamashas long trainedchildren for military combat and terror operations, and plans toestablish a “military academy” to train to children as young as12 to fight the Jews and destroy Israel. Last year, reportssurfaced indicating that Hamas has trained at least 37,000children ages 15-17 in urban warfare.
TheConvention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination againstWomen
WhatIt Means: CEDAWrequires all signatories to commit themselves to undertakingmeasures to end discrimination against women in all forms. Thisincludes a mandate to “incorporate the principle of equality of menand women in their legal system, abolish all discriminatory laws andadopt appropriate ones prohibiting discrimination against women”,”to establish tribunals and other public institutions to ensure theeffective protection of women against discrimination”, and “toensure elimination of all acts of discrimination against women bypersons, organizations or enterprises.”
PalestinianViolations: Violenceagainst women (domestic violence, sexual assault, etc.) isrampant in the Palestinian territories. Offenders are treatedwithimpunity. In 2013, honorkillings in the West Bank and Gaza doubled. Palestinian womenhave nodivorce rights. Strict Islamic laws codify inequality andrestrictfreedom in all aspects of life for Palestinian women.
Please do not stop here. Please read the rest of the report, noting its copious links to supporting evidence. Please think about the fact that the violations by Palestinian leaders are primarily not against Israel, but against their own people.
Then ask yourself the one-word question I have been asking for years, regarding Israel making peace under these circumstances.
How?
========================================
*There are no elected Palestinian Arab leaders.
-In the Palestinian Arab-controlled parts of Judea and Samaria (the west bank), elections were last held in 2005. At that time mahmoud abbas became President for four years. But no elections have been held since his term of office ran out, thus he has been an unelected dictator since 2009.
-In Gaza, hamas violently overthrew the elected leadership and took over in 2007. No elections have ever been held there.
