IS TRUMP ALREADY OUR PRESIDENT?

The answer to that question, in legal terms, is no.

The answer to that question, in de facto terms, is pretty much yes.

Ask yourself:  other than pardoning his dissolute son – the one who apparently was used to make the Biden family millions and millions of dollars by selling access to Papa Joe – what have you read about Joe Biden’s actions as President in the last week or two, other than that his lapdogs trying to impede the Trump administration before he takes office, that is?

In what way, other than ceremonially, is Joe Biden currently functioning as our president?  For that matter, when was the last time he, personally – not the people around him who are effectively running this administration – was functioning as president even before the election?

John Hinderaker, writing for powerlineblog.com, has published an excellent commentary on this reality.  titled “Trump, The President-In-Fact?”.  Here is how it begins:

It is extraordinary how impactful Donald Trump’s election has been. Without yet taking office, he is already bestriding the world stage. Thus, no sooner had Trump won the election than Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine may be willing to cede some territory to bring its war with Russia to an end, after all. Simply by winning the election, Trump might bring the Russia-Ukraine war to a halt.

Next, Trump threatened to rain destruction on Hamas if all hostages, Israeli and American, are not released prior to his inauguration. I think Hamas might do it. The Times of Israel reports: “Isolated Hamas faces collapsing negotiating stance after drastic Trump threat.” And today, Israeli hostage families reached out directly to Trump:

Hinderaker goes on to cite other examples, but I think you get the picture.  Much of the world – maybe all of it – has discarded what’s left of Joe Biden and is reacting to President Trump instead.  And with good reason:  Biden, cognitively speaking, is gone with the wind, while Trump is making his from[-the-first-day-on agenda perfectly clear.

Simply stated, Trump is now functioning as President and Joe Biden – again, other than the pardon he gave his son (and the ones he is virtually certain to hand out before leaving) – is not.

Whatever you think of Donald Trump, I hope you agree with me that the end of Biden’s presidential farce cannot end soon enough.
