If you consider the above title’s question nasty, sarcastic and unworthy of someone like me…
…how would you feel about it being written by a well known leftward writer and published in a major newspaper?
Sunday’s opinion piece in the New York Times, written by Michael Kinsley, asked (this is the actual title online):
In it, Mr. Kinsley, who is honest enough to admit thaqt mainstream media have not given Donald Trump so much as the time of day, actually solicits readers to try and come up with something – anything – nice to say about the current, elected President of the United States.

This newspaper and other mainstream media outlets have cut Mr. Trump no slack. The Times editorial page urged the deputy attorney general, a career government lawyer, to “save your honor”: call for a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump campaign’s involvement with Russia and cash in a lifetime of probity chips if necessary to do it.
Let’s have a special prosecutor by all means. But is it true that Mr. Trump has no redeeming qualities (except that he evidently loves his family — and even that has gotten him into justifiable trouble)? Can it be that he lacks the moral character to hold a job once held by Nixon and the wisdom to hold a job once held by George W. Bush?
Maybe so.
The snarky disdain Mr. Kinsley has for Mr. Trump couldn’t be clearer. That “can it be that he lacks the moral character to hold a job once held by Nixon and the wisdom to hold a job once held by George W. Bush?” line says it all. And even if it didn’t, the idea that it is any issue to find people with good things to say about a man who received 63 million votes just 6 months ago is utterly nonsensical…
…unless Mr. Kinsley’s point is that virtually no New York Times readers could find anything good to say about Mr. Trump, which is far more a statement about the insularity of Times readers than the attributes of Donald Trump.
Kinsley, I assume, will at some point in the future put up readers’ responses.
You can count on at least some of them being just as snarky and just as disdainful as the question itself – which should make Donald Trump smile broadly. Why? Because, though they still don’t seem to realize it, these are the people who elected him.
