Chris Christie is a former Governor of New Jersey, who is best known for closing the beaches due to a funding issue, but going to one of them with his family and sitting in a beach chair while everyone else was barred from doing so.
This, far more than anything else, is what people associate Christie with:
But despite the comical/ridiculous image he self-created, Christie is now allegedly running for President.
I say “allegedly” because I have heard him do nothing but attack Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis – mostly Trump. I have no idea what his positions are on any issue other than damaging the two most popular Republican candidates.
In other words, Chris Christie comes across not as a legitimate candidate, but as a vindictive, small (in personal stature, obviously not physical) spoiler, who is subordinating his party’s fortunes to his bitterness at having become a national joke. The embodiment of “since I am no longer taken seriously, I’ll do what I can to make sure they aren’t either”.
What a putz.
