IRAN “DEAL” UPDATE (ANOTHER “DOH” MOMENT)

Since we’re on the subject of “doh”, I thought I would post another one – this time excerpted from Steven Mufson’s article in today’s Washington Post:

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that Iran has failed to provide the information or access needed to allay the agency’s concerns about the weapons potential of the country’s nuclear program.

With the deadline nearing for international talks on constraining Iran’s nuclear program, Yukiya Amano, director general of the IAEA, said in an interview that Iran has replied to just one of a dozen queries about “possible military dimensions” of past nuclear activities.

Amano said that Iran has provided only “very limited” information about two other issues, while the rest have not been addressed at all.

“Recently, the progress is very limited,” he said.

What’s this?  Iran, which has lied about every facet of its nuclear program ever since we found out it has one – a fact Iran also lied about until it could not do so anymore – is not providing the information necessary to assess whether that program is being created for military purposes?

DOH.

A question for Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry:  what did you expect from Iran?  Honesty?  Peaceful use of nuclear capability?

Why in the world would anyone in his or her right mind have any such expectation?  What in the world has Iran done to earn such an expectation?

Yet we still have President Barack Obama and Secretary Of State John Kerry – an incompetent and a man who has spent the last 30 years in the Senate and the cabinet without even one major accomplishment – plodding on to engage in a “deal” with this very same Iran, as if it will keep to any part of it.

This is lunacy on wheels.  Yet even the 47 senators and 367 House members (including 2/3 of all Democrats) who are telling these two not to agree to a thing without congressional approval, are unable to stop them.  Because they think this is their moment, their chance.

It reminds me of the lyrics from a Broadway musical’s show-stopping song:

This is the moment
This is the time
When the mommentum and the moment
Are in rhyme
Give me this moment
This precious chance
I’ll gather up my past
And I’ll make some sense at last

In case you are unaware, the Broadway musical was “Jekyll and Hyde”.

Jekyll, as what what Obama and Kerry delude themselves into thinking Iran is, Hyde as what it actually is.

What a perfect premise for this “deal”.
