IN CASE YOU THINK IT’S JUST SAN FRANCISCO AND LOS ANGELES…

…read Jazz Shaw’s genuinely disheartening article about how, in Bill De Blasio’s New York City, “homeless” people have taken over Grand Central Station and are turning it into the kind of pig sty that you find in California’s big cities these days.

Here are a few excerpts:

There are plenty of homeless across the country, including New York City. But unlike Los Angeles, the Big Apple experiences real winters with snow, sleet and freezing temperatures. That means that the homeless can’t just crash on the sidewalks and they need to find a place indoors to stay warm.

Increasingly, they’ve set up encampments inside of Grand Central Terminal, frequently in the food courts. And the business owners there are fed up. Unfortunately, they say that nobody from City Hall or the MTA is paying attention to their complaints.

From sleeping on the ground to stealing, some business owners in Grand Central Terminal say the homeless population is taking over and they simply can’t take it anymore.

Mr. Shaw goes on to describe specifics, which I urge you to use the link I’ve provided and read about.

Chalk it up to part of the De Blasio legacy.  Crime:  up.  Quality of life: down.  Citizens protected from aggressive panhandling and repulsive, often lewd behavior from homeless people: way down (and do NOT blame the police, this isn’t their policy).

But – and this is the saddest part – if there were an election held today, the Democrats running these cities, including De Blasio if he could go for a third tem, would be elected in landslides.

Why?  Because of how many people are programmed to vote for one side and never even think about considering the other.

Maybe enough people broke away from their programmed voting and caused Democrats to have to be concerned about problems like what is described above, their candidates would be motivated to address these problems instead of letting them fester and grow.  But, as long as we have the current status quo, that is not going to happen.

Too bad.

Sometimes the worst wounds are the self-inflicted ones.
