…read this, excerpted from Hannah Nightingale’s article for thepostmillennial.com:
An internal report has revealed that the BBC “doctored” a speech given by President Donald Trump, making it appear as though he had encouraged violence at the Capitol on January 6. The Panorama special aired one week before the 2024 presidential election.
Per the Telegraph, which viewed the internal whistleblower memo, the special “completely misled” viewers by showing Trump telling attendees he was going to walk with them to the Capitol to “fight like hell,” accompanied by foreboding music and video of people amassing on the Capitol, with nothing indicating that the footage and speech had been edited.
Trump had actually told them he would walk with the crowd to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” The “fight like hell” comments came around an hour later, while Trump spoke on elections being “corrupt.”
The report stated that the program’s “distortion of the day’s events was so egregious that viewers would ask: ‘Why should the BBC be trusted, and where will this all end?'”
Wow. Right up there with our media telling us – for years – that Trump called White supremacists and neo-nazis “very fine people”, which was a complete, total, 100% lie.
The fraudulence of this doctored report on Trump and J6report was so egregious that now, after a year of allowing it to sit there as-is, the BBC is now issuing an apology of sorts for its lie.
From Peter Rubinstein’s just-published article for dailyexpress.com, via msn.com:
Samir Shah, chairman of the BBC, will reportedly issue an apology to the United Kingdom’s Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Monday for the selective editing of a Donald Trump speech preceding the 2021 riot at the United States Capitol that allegedly made it appear clearer he encouraged the attack.
The edit, aired in a Panorama documentary a week before the 2024 presidential election, spliced together clips of Trump’s speech on Jan. 6, 2021. The edited clip made it appear as if Trump told the crowd, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be there with you, and we fight. We fight like hell.”
The phrases were taken from portions of speech nearly an hour apart, however, and excluded a section in which Trump asked his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
Way to go, BBC. Very impressive. It puts you right up there with the several (by no means all) media venues on this side of the Atlantic, which sort of apologized for lying about Trump’s “very fine people” misquote years later.
This is what mainstream media have degenerated to. There and here.
Never forget that when you read one or another of their “news” articles.
