…and, with political polls, that is always a huge “if”…
…how do Democrats run Joe Biden for re-election this year?
Take a look at these findings from the just-published Fox News Poll summarized in Dana Blanton’s article for foxnews.com:

And then add in the following:
To top it off, voters don’t see the economy getting better – instead, they are twice as likely to see the economy getting worse next year (44% worse vs. 22% better). Democrats are alone in thinking it will get better (by a 7-point margin), as Republicans (by 47) and independents (by 38 points) see the economy declining next year by much wider margins.
The president’s lowest job ratings continue to be on inflation, with 28% approving. That’s up from a low of 23% in June 2022. His marks are also well underwater on border security (33% approve, 63% disapprove), the Israel-Hamas war (33-60%), China (34-61%), the economy (36-62%), Ukraine (37-59%), and national security (43-54%).
Asking again: if these data are anywhere near accurate, how do Democrats run Joe Biden for re-election this year?
What do you expect him to do? Get in front of the country, maybe during a debate, and cleverly, analytically, explain all this away?
In his cognitive state he is lucky if he can put two coherent sentences together, let alone analyze circumstances, explain them and convince doubtful voters that he’s their man for the next four years (i.e. until he is 86 years old).
If think Joe Biden capable of doing this, you have a world-class imagination.
And if that weren’t bad enough, remember (as voters are sure to be reminded over and over again) that, should Biden falter during those next four years, the Democrat Party’s replacement, as things now stand, will be Kamala Harris; a flyweight who can’t put two coherent sentences together even with full cognitive abilities.
That said, however, this isn’t any cakewalk for Republicans either.
They are going to have a major – make that hugely major – problem if they put Donald Trump up for the presidency. Between his legal problems (whether justified or not), his sky-high ego, paper thin skin and inability to control that big mouth of his, Trump could self-immolate at any time.
But a) even despite the enormous baggage that comes along with Trump, if he’s running against Biden he still could win, and
b) there’s no guarantee Trump is going to be the nominee. Illustratively, if Trump -voluntarily or involuntarily – bows out and, say, Nikki Haley replaces him, it will take a miracle that would make the parting of the Red Sea a “so what” event for Biden be re-elected.
Either that, or enough paper ballots and drop boxes around the country to make the actual vote immaterial….
