Here, via Claire O’Hare’s article at msn.com, are the latest poll data for President Joe Biden – you know, the guy who keeps telling us how great things are under his stewardship:
President Biden’s approval rating has hit a record low of 31%, marking the lowest rating for a U.S. president in the last 15 years.
The poll by ABC News also indicates that only 18% approve of his handling of immigration at the southern border, and just 13% believe they are financially better off since Biden took office.
Additionally, his approval rating on the economy and handling of the Israel-Hamas war is low, with 31% and 26% approval respectively.
I’ve been following politics for a long time. But I have never, to the best of my remembrance, seen numbers this low for a sitting President.
And let’s remember that, awful though the 31% approval rating is, the specific issues make things far worse, since poll after poll shows that immigration (a stunning 18% approval) and the economy (an almost impossible 13% saying they are better off) are the two most important issues to voters.
Add this to the fact that Biden cannot be put in front of a microphone without showing the significant-and-getting-worse level of his cognitive decline (presidential debate, anyone?) – which I will cover in my next blog – and I do not see a way Democrats can run him for re-election. I do not mean this sarcastically, I mean it with 100 sincerity.
And who do they have in the wings? Kamala Harris, who has approval ratings in the same toilet as Biden? Gavin Newsom, who presumably would do for the country what he did for San Francisco and California – i.e. destroy it? Michelle Obama, whose only qualification is that she is married to a former President?
But that’s not all. Who will the eventual Democrat nominee run against?
Will the Republican be Donald Trump – who Democrat-appointed DAs and judges in cities around the country are charging with dozens of felonies and who, whether fairly or unfairly, rightly or wrongly, might be facing jail time?
Get ready for a truly bodacious presidential year. Because this is going to be one for the history books.
