At this point there is no way to get around the fact that the Democrat Party is, at very least, just fine with socialism. And at most?
Tell you what: let’s see what the polls say.
From Jonathan Turley’s latest commentary:
Recent polls show steady growth in support for socialism among Democrats. A new CBS poll shows how popular it is, with 58 percent holding a positive view of socialism—26 points more than the 32 percent with a positive view of capitalism. This may explain why House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, while rejecting core parts of its platform, embraced Democratic Socialists this week as part of the Democratic Party. In addition to a variety of anti-Semitic figures within its ranks, the DSA wants to get rid of the presidency, the Senate, the Supreme Court, and other institutions (as well as borders, immigration enforcement, and much of private property). Yet, Jeffries still believes they share values and wants them to be part of the Democratic party. In other words, there are many “fine people” in the DSA despite being committed to the destruction of our core institutions.
The poll also found that 24 percent of Democrats have “no opinion” of socialism, while 18 percent have no opinion regarding capitalism.
Other polling shows similar results. An Economist/YouGov survey recently found that 62 percent of Democrats said they would vote for a “Democratic Socialist” candidate
That’s two usually credible polls, both showing that the Democrat Party has, literally, become a home base for socialism in this country.
Do these people have any sense of what socialism is? What it does? That socialism – real socialism – has an ongoing record of failure pretty much everywhere it has been tried?
The most interesting, even funny (in an ironic rather than humorous) way, is how Democrat “leaders” like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jefffries are sucking up to the socialist takeover of their party – most, I suspect, because if they lose their votes, they lose any chance of winning majorities in one or both houses of congress.
Don’t these geniuses realize that if/when socialists have significant control over the party, they are going to be unceremoniously dumped, in favor of more congenially socialistic alternatives? That they’re not far left enough, not Israel-hating enough, not anti-democracy enough to be acceptable for this bunch?
I will continue to monitor the Democrats’ socialist takeover to see if it continues…..and how it might affect the way certain groups – which, in recent years, have voted solidly Democrat – will vote going forward.
Is a wakeup call in the offing? And, if so, when?
The future of our country as we know it may well ride on the answer to those questions.
