On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris was asked to participate in a call to 300 or so Democrat donors, presumably to assure them that the ticket was intact and Biden/Harris was a great combination for re-election in November.
But that call – very much including Harris’s input – was so bad that even mainstream media venues which have zero affinity for Donald Trump aren’t trying to hide or sugar-coat what a disaster it was.

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. — A call Friday featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and about 300 major Democratic donors left many who dialed in frustrated, with one donor declaring it “ludicrous” shortly before it ended, according to two sources familiar with the call.
One person on the call referred to it as “mismanaged” and “rushed.” They added expectations had not been managed well and some participants left feeling admonished.
That person and two other sources said many donors joined hoping to get an insider’s view of how to move forward in the wake of President Joe Biden’s dismal debate performance and the growing number of Democrats calling for him to drop out of the race. Instead, they said donors left the call feeling disappointed and like they had not gained any new insights or helpful information.
“It was a total failure,” said one source who was on the call and who spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide a candid assessment. “It was damaging. It was poor planning.”
One source stressed that they took the comment to mean that the call was poorly run and not as a criticism of Harris.
So what do we have here?
We have a Vice President – someone one heartbeat away from the presidency – being asked nothing more than to reassure a group of Democrat partisan moneybags that she and Joe Biden are good to go for the 2024 re-election campaign.
And in that – as with everything else Kamala Harris does – she blew it spectacularly.
If you can’t make a positive impression on your own people, how can you make a positive impression on voters – especially independent voters not predisposed to your party?
Reality check: President Joe Biden is cognitively beyond the pale. Vice President Kamala Harris is a flyweight, cackling, nothing-with-nothing who was selected as his Vice President only because it was assumed (correctly in 2020, maybe not so much this time) that the optics of having a Black woman as next in line would solidify the voting base.
Where does that leave Democrats in 2024?
Will they run the remnant of Biden and the flyweight cackler Harris again? Or will the flyweight cackler Harris take over for Biden? Or – as is being floated the last couple of days – will Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump once already, come out of mothballs to run? Or will they somehow convince Michelle Obama, who has never held elective office, to jump ahead of (and therefore infuriate) everyone else?
Right now, if I had a choice of being a Democrat operative, or drinking motor oil and swimming in shark infested waters, I think I’d need time to decide.
