Last week Hillary Clinton made quite a splash when she told Democrats that loose gun control laws in Vermont (i.e. BernieSandersville) were responsible for many guns finding their way into New York and being used illegally.
Well, that is just plain wrong. As noted here and elsewhere, Vermont is responsible for only a tiny fraction of guns that come into New York illegally – less than 1% in total, and about one-third the per state average.
Then we have this information, which I just saw today, complete with a very telling chart, from vetsforbernie.com:
Unfortunately for Clinton, the federal government’s own data directly contradicts her claims.
According to ATF statistics, for four years straight not a single Vermont gun ended up in neighboring New York state. Yet during that time, a handful of New York guns made their way across the border to Vermont.
So has Hillary Clinton apologized? Said that, OK, maybe I got this wrong?
Uh, no. Instead, she has revised her attack in a way that makes it sound more accurate….despite the fact that it is completely absurd.
Here is her new, revised version:
“Most of the guns that are used in crimes and violence and killings in New York come from out of state. And the state that has the highest per capita number of those guns that end up committing crimes in New York come from Vermont.”
Per capita? Per capita?
You divide the number of guns by the population size and it’s supposed to mean something?
Is Ms. Clinton saying that if Vermont had ten times the population, ten times as many illegal guns would be coming from there?
Hint to anyone who buys this BS: you are being played for a fool. It doesn’t matter how many people live in Vermont. What matters – and all that matters – is how many guns come from there.
If loose laws had created a serious market for illegal guns to come from Vermont, they would be streaming in – not because of how many people live there but because of the loose laws.
Look at how many companies incorporate in the relatively tiny states of Delaware and Nevada.
Why do they do it? Because the laws governing incorporation in those states make it far easier and far less expensive than in other states..which would be just as true if Delaware and Nevada were the two most populous states in the country. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
But Hillary Clinton is telling you that is doesn’t mean nothing, it means everything.
It is as if she decided there are not enough reasons to call her a fraud and a liar, so here’s another one.
What a dishonest phony she is. And how little she thinks of voters’ intelligence.
She is a total moron.
