Just weeks ago, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was a relatively popular head of state, and Germany was a relatively quiet, happy country.
Not any more.
Now that Ms. Merkel has decided to accept a tidal wave of Muslim immigrants, and deposit them throughout Germany in big towns and small, the people have gone from concerned, to outraged, to who knows where.
Think I\’m exaggerating? Then read this excerpt from an article at the Russia Today web site, rt.com:

Bavarianofficial Peter Dreier called German Chancellor Angela Merkel to tell herpersonally that if Germany welcomes a million refugees, his town of Landshutwill only take in around 1,800. Any extra will be put on buses and sent to herChancellery in Berlin.

In this situation I think less and less is determined by law,more and more is determined by who acts. And the person who acts in fact hasthe power. So if he sends … refugees to Berlin, he sends them!
Does that look like Germans are taking this well? Somehow I doubt it.
And can you blame them? Please note that, at the beginning of this blog, I called the Muslims flocking to Germany (and other countries in Europe) immigrants instead of refugees. That is because refugees – i.e. people who flee the country they live in – usually wind up in the next country over. These people are migrating thousands of miles away, to a place where they can demand, and get, massive social services; a place where they seem to have no interest in assimilating.
It seems clear that a great many Germans see this as a tidal wave of uneducated, unskilled people, who intend to live off of German productivity, while turning their country into a version of what they fled from. And the fact that other countries are refusing entry for the same people Ms. Merkel is welcoming with open arms (Hungary, for one), is not helping their attitudes one little bit.
It doesn\’t take much savvy to see where feelings like those can take things.
So why is Angela Merkel doing this? Is she bucking for a “Humanitarian of the Century” award? Did she recently convert to Islam and proactively want this to happen? Or, has she just lost her mind?
