Sometimes you don’t know whether to laugh, to cry or just to shake your head in disbelief.
From David Zimmermann’s article at National Review, via msn.com:
Harvard University established a newly formed antisemitism task force designed to identify the “root causes” of anti-Jewish sentiment on campus, but in doing so, appointed a professor who has been critical of Israel.
Interim Harvard president Alan Garber announced on Friday that the Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism will be led by Derek Penslar, the university’s professor of Jewish history. In August, prior to the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, Penslar signed an open letter alongside nearly 2,900 signatories who at the time called Israel a “regime of apartheid” over its treatment of Palestinians.
“We, academics, clergy, and other public figures from Israel/Palestine and abroad, call attention to the direct link between Israel’s recent attack on the judiciary and its illegal occupation of millions of Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories,” the August letter read.
So let me get this straight. The guy Harvard has appointed to combat anti-Jewish sentiment is an Israel-hater/”Palestinian” sympathizer who calls land that is not sovereign to Palestinian Arabs “occupied terrotories” (there has never been a legal determination of the land ownership of those territories, and “Palestinians” have rejected every effort to create one that has ever been offered).
This is the guy who they appoint to combat anti-semitism? At another time, I would have assumed this was a joke…but, given the depths to which Harvard has so clearly descended, now I can’t even say it’s a surprise.
I can’t wait to hear his ideas about how to go about addressing this issue. Maybe if all the Jews on campus would just shut up, sit in a corner by themselves and wear “We Support Gaza” pins……
