hamas, as you know, is that nice group of folks who President Obama says we can work with, and who, along with Secretary of State John Kerry, says Israel should handle with “restraint”.
hamas is also the group who has been firing artillery at Israel every day for weeks and months. It is the same group whose leader, khaled al mashaal said, of the three Jewish teenagers who were kidnapped and killed, “Blessed be the hands that captured them. This is a Palestinian duty, the responsibility of the Palestinian people.”
But there is more.
Now that Israel has finally had its fill and is militarily addressing the neverending attacks, hamas has responded with a compendium of videos it is broadcasting over “Al-Aqsa”, its state-run TV station (as if there were any other kind).
With a major tip of the hat to Palestine Media Watch (palwatch.com), the invaluable web site which monitors Palestinian Arab media activity, here is the text of some (not all) of them:
“Zionists,wait and see stabbing attacks everywhere. Wait for suicide attacks onevery bus, café and street. Wait for the rage and for revenge forGaza, wait for the flames of the West Bank and inside you [Israel],”the broadcast threatens.
“Zionists,do you still remember the rockets that made Tel-Aviv and the IsraeliParliament tremble? We just wanted to tell you that we have thousandsof them,” the voice in Hebrew warns.
“Zionists,[we] can reach you above ground and below it. So start counting thenumber of coffins you\’ll need in these months.”
“Zionists,the resistance has many goals, it has the ability to reach places youthought were safe. Look, they [the rockets] are on their way to younow and will reach you soon.”

Translation: ” We will kill you everywhere. We don\’t care about military targets, we\’re perfectly happy to kill as many innocent civilians as we can, and we\’re perfectly happy to die in the process. We\’re loaded with armaments and have thousands of rockets to launch at you, so better get stocked up on coffins.”
Yes, these are the folks President Obama thinks we can work with; the folks he and John Kerry think are willing to act with restraint.
If you happen to run into Mr. Obama or Mr. Kerry, please do me a favor and ask them why.
Then, when they\’re finished blathering out something other than a straight answer, because no such answer exists, you can tell them for me that when a group makes overt threats of that kind, they are asking – make that begging – for the people being threatened to answer with the severest possible response.
You can also tell them not to blame the people hamas has threatened for providing such a response. But don\’t expect it to get through. Not with those two.
