Click here to experience, and marvel at, the great Oscar Peterson and the spectactular Ella Fitzgerald (feel free to use both superlatives interchangeably, and add a few of your own), doing the great jazz classic “Air Mail Special” – in which Ms. Fitzgerald does not sing words, but uses her voice exclusively as a musical instrument.
Mr. Peterson was one of the all time great jazz pianists, maybe the single greatest there ever was. And Ms. Fitzgerald? Who else could even come close to doing what she does here? No one that I ever heard.
