I haven’t put up an installment of the “good racism” series (i.e. racism that people who claim to be against racism have no problem with) in a while. Not because there isn’t plenty of it, but because so many other issues have jumped to the front of the line.
But this one is hard to bypass.
From Victor Nava’s article for the New York Post:
Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass expressed disappointment and concern Friday with Hispanics joining Border Patrol – arguing they’re only doing it for the paycheck.
“Well, in a way, I think it’s sad,” Bass said of a CNN report on Border Patrol’s new recruits, many of which are Hispanic.
“I think that those Border Patrol agents are going to have a difficult time when they’re out in the field and they see what actually happens in real life separate from their training,” the mayor told “The Situation Room” host Wolf Blitzer.
More than half of Border Patrol agents are Hispanic, according to federal government data.
Bass believes Hispanic Americans are flocking to join the agency “primarily” for financial reasons.
“I do understand that their primary incentive is financial,” the mayor said. “I think it just speaks to the financial situation that millions of Americans find themselves in.
Quite an analysis, Mayor Bass. Very telling. In other words, if you are Hispanic, you should just look the other way as illegal Hispanics cross the border. The only reason you would join the Border Patrol – and screw over your brothers and sisters – is because you need the money so desperately.
See, it’s OK for Karen Bass, and likeminded people, to express wonderment, and negativism, about Hispanic agents stopping illegals – many of them Hispanic – from crossing the border and coming into the country. After all, you’re Hispanic and they’re Hispanic. Why would you force them to abide by the same laws as everyone else? Why aren’t you giving preferential treatment to your own people? What’s wrong with you?
Hmmm, giving preferential treatment to your own people? Is it just me, or isn’t that something the ku klux klan could live with?
“Good Racism”. It sure does come across similarly to bad racism, doesn’t it? I guess “good” is in the eye of the beholder…the same eye that, apparently, is blind to the hypocrisy it requires.
