GAZA SUFFERING: A QUICK UPDATE, AND A QUESTION

First, the update.

Before Gaza’s October 7 massacre, most of the people there lived terrible lives of deprivation.

Their children were taught little other than Jew-hatred and violence in the UN-sponsored schools.

Much – probably most of – the billions and billions of dollars in aid which streamed into the country was not used for these people.  Instead, it found its way into the purchasing of military artillery to attack Israel, the building of tunnels to store such equipment/hide material and human assets…

…and to provide the so-called “leaders” of hamas billionaires’ lives in Qatar.

Then October 7 took place.  1,200 – 1,400 people, most of the Israeli civilians who were living their lives in peace or attending a dance festival – were killed/mutilated/raped/baked alive/beheaded.  Well over 200 people were taken hostage.

Israel – 100% predictably in view of the above – attacked Gaza.  Its objective was, and remains, ridding it of hamas (which would be a huge benefit – not just to Israel but to the people who live there).

After a period of highly successful military activity, Israel – despite the opportunity it gave hamas to regroup – agreed to a cease-fire, in return for some of the hostages being released.  Israel held to that agreement until hamas stopped releasing hostages and attacked Israel again.

Now, Israel has agreed to another cease-fire, in return for more of the 140 or so hostages still being held (assuming they are even alive; no one knows whether they are for sure, or what condition they are now in).

But there is no cease-fire.  The reason?  Because hamas has refused to release more of the hostages they took.

In recent days I have watched, and read, commentators, and spokespeople from supposedly humanitarian groups, demand that Israel cease fire in return for…nothing.  No surrender, no hostage release, nothing.

Their position is that Gazans are in desperate need and there must be an opportunity for aid to come into Gaza on their behalf…a fact which seems self-evident to me.

I keep waiting for these commentators/spokespeople to demand that hamas release more of the hostages, which would result in the cease-fire.  Or that it, given its decimation on the battlefield, it surrenders, thus giving Israel a reason to significantly lower or even curtail its attacks in Gaza altogether.

But, it seems, very few of the commentators and “humanitarian” spokespeople making the loudest noise on behalf of a cease-fire/cessation of attacks make any demands at all of hamas.  And very few, if any, note that hamas leaders are living lives of extreme luxury, far away from their suffering people.

Now my question:  Why do you suppose everything is expected of Israel, nothing is expected of hamas, and there is virtually no condemnation of how the aid money has been used all these years – especially for the billionaire-lifestyles of hamas leaders?

Think about it.
