In 1963, The Five Du-Tones had a big hit with the song “Shake A Tail Feather”. If you were around then, you might still remember it.
It is a lot less likely that you remember the flip side of that hit, titled “Divorce Court”. But today, in the age of Barack Obama, there is an interesting parallel with its lyrics and President Obama\’s sudden “strategy” for fighting radical Islam er, international terrorism…or is it man-made disaster. I keep forgetting which terminology is the most PC-acceptable these days.
The song, which you can listen to by clicking here, is about a divorce proceeding between Frank and Zula Mae Heisenberger, in which Frank, a no-good bum, is accused of everything under the sun by Zula Mae – and, when asked for his side of it, keeps saying “I don\’t remember, I just don\’t remember”. But at the end of the song, when the exasperated judge grants Zula Mae a divorce and sentences Frank to 6 months in the workhouse, his memory suddenly returns. “Now I remember, your honor…”
Well, here we have Barack Obama who, as President, has spent over 5 1/2 years with no strategy to deal with radical Islamic terrorism as it grew to its current far-past-intolerable state – other than taking credit for “getting” bin laden (when he had little or nothing to do with it), and sending drones to kill a few individuals, which got a few headlines from his Accompice Media but did not at all stop the progress of the terrorist groups themselves.
Two years ago Mr. Obama told us that al Qaeda was virtually decimated. As recently as this January he compared its even more radical offshoot, ISIS, to a “jayvee squad. And just last week he was telling us he had no strategy for dealing with them.
But now that this astonishing level of nothingness in the face of an international threat was met with such negative reactions that even his supporters are running for the exits? Suddenly Barack Obama has an amazing 180 degree turnaround. NOW he has a strategy. Honest.
In “Divorce Court”, Frank Heisenberger was sentenced to 6 months in the workhouse. In the real world, we are all sentenced to 2 1/2 years more of Barack Obama.
Frank was the lucky one.
