Here, via excerpts from Whitney Eulich\’s article for the Christian Science Monitor, are the comments of Guatemalan First Lady rosa leal de perez regarding the flood of people from her country – many of them minors – into the United States:
Guatemala\’sfirst lady Rosa Leal de Perez traveled to the US-Mexicoborder earlier this month to see how the USis dealing with the surge of migrant children, many from her nation.
Shecalled the situation a “humanitarian crisis” and saidshe believed the kids were primarily traveling to the US in orderto reunite with family members. Ms. Leal de Perez blamed USimmigration policies for keeping families apart and parents forputting their kids at risk. Something she didn\’t find responsible?Violence back home.
“Ican\’t say violence isn\’t a problem in our countries,” she said, referring to CentralAmerica\’s northern triangle, which includes Honduras,ElSalvador, and Guatemala, and from where the majority of theseyoung migrants are fleeing. But she said violence wasn\’t the reasonkids were heading north.
“Inthe municipalities where these kids are coming from, there aren\’tgangs,” Leal de Perez said.
Liar.
Regardless of what you think about illegal immigration to the United States, make no mistake about why people are leaving Guatemala. It is a hellhole of the first order, with a stunningly high murder rate – one of the highest in the world – rampant crime, and gangs ruling much of the country without regard to the law – much as warlords rule parts of Afghanistan.
Please use the link provided above, read Mr. Eulich\’s entire article in which he outlines the extent of depravity in this godforsaken country, and you will be sick to your stomach. But rosa leal de perez assures you none of this exists and none of it has anything to do with anything. This liar makes Barack Obama\’s “If you like your plan you can keep your plan” comment look credible by comparison.
My thanks to Mr. Eulich for writing this article, and to the Christian Science Monitor for publishing it.
And my utter disgust to the majority of mainstream media which are perfectly happy to position the flood of illegals almost entirely as a problem it is the United States\’ responsibility to solve, rather than the shameful result of how Central American countries are run, with a demand that – for humanitarian reasons – they finally, at long last, start doing something about their murder rates and indifference to the plight of ordinary citizens.
