Are you surprised that so many of the movers and shakers among the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) crowd have plenty of access to funds for their personal use? I hope not, because this fact is far from a rarity.
Today’s editorial in The New York Post makes a point of this – and is must-reading for anyone who wonders about the sanctimony of this bunch.
Here it is, every word:
Are they Democrat socialists or just deadbeat scammers?
We admit it: It’s just delicious to see so many “commie cosplayers” exposed as frauds — and the hits keep coming.

Gustavo Gordillo, co-chair of the NYC-DSA, speaks during a rally to demand that lawmakers tax the ultra-wealthy and invest in public services during the Albany Takeover at the Armory.
It turns out DSA-NYC co-chair Gustavo Gordillo not only has his parents paying for massive renovations of the $1.5 million home they bought for him and his brother in Bed-Stuy, he’s also using non-union labor for the work — and the local community board opposed the re-do plan as creating a structure out of whack with the block, with experts saying the planned “beach house” clashes with the historic district’s vibe.
Then again, Gordillo got suspended from the IBEW membership that he’s bragged about — reportedly because he couldn’t be bothered to actually do the work of apprenticeship.
Meanwhile, he allegedly stiffed his Crown Heights landlord on three months of rent for the place he’d been staying in during the Bed-Stuy rebuild.
And of course equally-privileged Morris Katz, the lefty-loving campaign consultant for Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Maine candidate Graham Platner, also reportedly stiffed his landlord of $14,000 as he left the Williamsburg pad unit stuffed with trash when he vacated.
“When you come from a rich family, you don’t have your priorities in order,” that building’s super, Felix Barbosa, told The Post.
We don’t think that’s true for all children from wealthy families, but it does seem to apply to a lot of them who turn into ultra-lefties.
Mamdani ally Tracy Rosenthal, who grew up in her Grammy-winning dad’s posh Manhattan crib, actually brags of bankrupting her landlord with a years-long rent strike.
That African immigrant lost the building to foreclosure, amid a sad saga that for a while had the city poised to take control.
That would’ve happened under a program Mamdani’s now boosting that can hand management over to one of the nonprofits that socialist theorizers like Cea Weaver (yet another child of the elite, though not so far as we know a deadbeat) imagine are the highway to housing heaven.
All this epic, sanctimonious selfishness is simply damning for a crowd that claims to be crusading on behalf of the underprivileged: It’s far worse than mere hypocrisy.
These seriously twisted menaces to society actually claim they’ve got the moral vision to remake it; what a wonderful crew to be running City Hall.
Gee, golly, gosh. What a shock. There are DSAers who don’t have to worry about where the money is coming from, either because someone else already is giving it to them or because they are simply expropriating it from unwilling suppliers.
It’s easy: just declare the people you are ripping off members of the hated “have” community and you, as an alleged “have not”, deserve to be subsidized by them. After all, they’re the enemy, aren’t they? So they deserve to have it taken from them, right?
I mean, damn those people who have have accumulated their own means of living. How dare they not give some – ok, maybe most – of it to everyone else. Including me, of course….just like my mommy and daddy did.
Welcome to the world of DSA elitists. And let’s all appreciate their major accomplishment: adding a new dimension to the word “hypocrisy”.
And do not forget that this is the bunch Democrats – including a lot of Democrats who know better but are committed to playing politics over all other considerations – now defer to.
