DONALD\’S DAMAGE TO HILLARY\’S ENABLEMENT

Ken Berwitz

In a blog written earlier this week, I said the following:

Trump has not yet, to my knowledge, said something like “Put Hillary Clinton in the White House, and you\’re also putting Bill Clinton there, with four years of time on his hands.  No intern will be safe, and every time he lays his hands on one it will be Hillary who facilitated it.  She will not only be a President, she will, effectively, be Bill Clinton\’s pimp. You want a war on women?  THAT\’S a war on women”.

But I don\’t doubt that he will.  And he\’ll have a point too.

I have read that Hillary Clinton would love Donald Trump to be the Republican nominee.  But has anyone asked if she loves running against him before a Republican nominee is selected?  Or if she realizes that, regardless of whether Trump becomes the nominee, her many years as Bill Clinton\’s sexual facilitator will stick with her?

I didn\’t think so.

And now we have the following analysis from a Republican operative named Charlie Black:

“It\’s not a politicalstrategy he\’s pursuing, it\’s a short-term public relations strategy.  Every day, he figures out some way to dominate thenews. But in the general election, not only is Bill Clinton still popular witha lot of swing voters, they don\’t think it\’s fair to run against the spouse. This is not a legitimate general election issue. It\’s simply a tactic ofDonald\’s to dominate the news.”

In my opinion, Mr. Black is wrong.  He is wrong about it as a strategy for Trump, and he is wrong about it not being a legitimate general election issue.

If Hillary Clinton is the President, it means Bill Clinton has a four year lease on the White House, just as Hillary does.  Why is it not legitimate to invoke what he did to women the last time he was in the White House?  Why is it not legitimate to invoke Monica Lewinsky – not just the physical activity but lying about it under oath?

And what is wrong about then using Lewinsky as a launching pad to remind voters of all the other women who accused him — not to take down Bill – the one who isn\’t running for anything any more – but to take down his enabler, Hillary – the one who is running?

That certainly could work for Trump if he\’s the nominee.

And if Trump is not the nominee, it can work for whomever is.  In fact, it can work even better – because the damage will still have been inflicted, and the nominee\’s hands will be clearn, because he/she did not do the inflicting.

Politically, Hillary lives by the War On Women.  Politically this can cause her to die by the War On Women.
How fitting.
