DON STERLING, BARACK OBAMA & RACISM

As you probably know by now, Don Sterling, owner of the National Basketball Association\’s Los Angeles Clippers, has allegedly been caught on a taped phone argument with a lady friend, making overtly racist, profanity-laden remarks, such as:

“Inyour lousy fucking Instagrams, you don\’t have to have yourself with– walking with black people”,

and

“I\’veknown (hall of fame player Magic Johnson) well and he should beadmired …. I\’m just saying that it\’s too bad you can\’t admire himprivately.  Admire him, bring him here, feed him, fuckkhim, but don\’t put (him) on an Instagram for the world to have to seeso they have to call me. And don\’t bring him to my games.”

Did Sterling really say those things?  Or is the tape altered or an outright fake?

I don\’t know for sure.  But Clippers\’ President Andy Roeser\’s statement that Sterling is “emphatic that what is reflected on that recording is not consistent with, nor does it reflect his views, beliefs or feelings”  is not a denial.  It is what you say when you\’re busted, and want to make people believe that what you said is not how you actually feel.  So my money is on its being authentic.

On the other hand, since it remains true that no one, as yet, does know for sure, I could have lived without President Obama\’s reaction to it:

“Whenignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don\’t reallyhave to do anything, you just let them talk. That\’s what happenedhere”

Maybe that\’s what happened here, Mr. President. And maybe it isn\’t.

But, either way, I can most assuredly live without a man who appointed the racist eric holder our Attorney General and, just weeks ago, embraced the career racist/Black supremacist/anti-Semite al Sharpton, lecturing me on this subject.

Are Don Sterling\’s hands dirty regarding this issue, Mr. President?  Very likely the answer is yes.  But so are yours.   Can you hold off on your hypocrisy until the issue is fully settled?
