I think we can safely assume that President Obama despises Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Damn that Netanyahu. How dare he worry more about the survival of Israel than about helping to pad Barack Obama’s paper-thin foreign policy resume, by giving Iran – the world’s foremost exporter of terrorism and a country specifically committed to wiping Israel off the map – the means to do so?
But wait. What about French President Francois Hollande? Where does he fit in?
Let’s see, via the first four paragraphs of Jay Solomon and Laurence Norman’s article for the Wall Street Journal:
France is again adopting the toughest line against Iran in negotiations aimed at curbing Tehran’s nuclear program, potentially placing Paris at odds with the Obama administration as a diplomatic deadline to forge an agreement approaches at month-end.
President Barack Obama called French President Francois Hollande on Friday to discuss the Iran diplomacy and try to unify their positions. The presidents “reaffirmed their commitment” to a deal “while noting that Iran must take steps to resolve several remaining issues,” the White House said.
French diplomats have been publicly pressing the U.S. and other world powers not to give ground on key elements-particularly the speed of lifting U.N. sanctions and the pledge to constrain Iran’s nuclear research work-ahead of the March 31 target.
Paris also appears to be operating on a different diplomatic clock than Washington, arguing that the date is an “artificial” deadline and that global powers should be willing to wait Tehran out for a better deal if necessary.
Is it just me, or does that look very much like the position of President Hollande and his people is far more toward that of Mr. Netanyahu than Mr. Obama?
What does this mean? Will Barack Obama now start making insulting, disparaging remarks about Francois Hollande? Will he snub Hollande the next time he comes to the USA, the way Obama snubbed Netanyahu?
Well, actually, I doubt it very much. After all, Hollande’s insult is only that he is acting as a realistic internationalist. He doesn’t have the extra baggage of being a pro-Israel Jew, does he?
In the days of the wild west, there was an ugly slogan: “The only good injun (Indian) is a dead injun”.
The more I see and hear Barack Obama, the more I realize that his slogan is “The only good Jew is a left wing Jew with more of an attachment to the Democrat Party than Israel…and a nice, big, fat wallet”.
