DE BLASIO TRIES TO TALK HIS WAY OUT OF HIS PAST

New York City Mayor bill de blasio apparently thinks he talk his way out of his own past.

He can\’t.

Here is what de blasio said earlier today, via Alexandra Jaffe\’s article at cnn.com:

NewYork City Mayor Bill de Blasio called on people Monday to put asidedebates and protests and focus on the families of police officersWenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who were killed over the weekend. “Itwas an attack on every single New Yorker and we have to see it assuch,” he said.

Thefamilies of slain officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos “are nowour family and we will stand by them,” New York City Mayor Billde Blasio said Monday, adding that they are “suffering anunspeakable pain right now.” He added, “Our firstobligation is to respect these families in mourning. Our firstobligation is to stand by them in every way we can. And I call uponeveryone to focus on these families in these next days.”

de blasio has made it clear from the git-go that he views police in an adversarial light.  And he just spent the last four months making his sympathies with the anti-police protesters clearer than clear.

Did de blasio condemn them when they changed “What do we want?”  “Dead Cops”?  Did he instruct Police Commissioner Bratton to arrest protesters who blocked intersections and bridges, as if disrupting the lives of countless innocent people had anything to do with protesting what happened to Michael Brown or Eric Garner?

Now he thinks that by saying the right words after two police officers are executed in cold blood he makes things better?   That people will forget who and what he has been until now?  Not a chance in hell.

de blasio will hold a press conference at 3:30 eastern time within the half hour – assuming he actually shows up on time.  (Note:  though being late to events, even important ones, is a trademark of de blasio\’s I would bet money it won\’t happen this time).

I\’ll blog about what he said at that time.

UPDATE:  Incredibly, if I had made that bet I\’d have lost.  This clown is even late to his “I\’ll try to make this go away\’ presser…12 minutes late so far and counting.  Pathetic….15 minutes and counting…

…here he is.  20 minutes late.  And he expects to be credible to anyone?  This man adds a new dimension to the term “tone deaf”.

FURTHER UPDATE:  To hear de blasio tell it, he is so pro-police he\’s thisclose to putting on a uniform and going on patrol himself.  Does he actually think anyone is buying what he\’s selling?  I wonder.
