The National Guard was deployed to Washington D.C. on August 12.
Yesterday was the 12th day of full deployment.
With that in mind, please read the beginning of Michael Dorgan’s article for Fox News:
Arrests under President Donald Trump’s federal crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., have blown past 1,000 as the nation’s capital marked its 12th consecutive day without a homicide, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Monday.
Pirro said that on Sunday alone there were 86 arrests and 10 illegal guns seized, bringing the totals to 1,007 arrests and 111 guns taken off the streets.
“What does that mean? They can’t be used to shoot people, to kill people,” Pirro said Monday on “Fox & Friends,” referring to the weapons seizures. “And on top of all of that, we’ve got a government now where the people in D.C. are feeling safer. They know that there is a president who’s looking to protect them.”
Now sit back and listen to Democrats and the hard left (those two descriptions are more synonymous every day) tell you what a bad idea it was to deploy the National Guard to Washington D.C.
Incidentally, the one poll I have seen that measured how D.C.ers felt about the National Guard – which was reported 5 days ago – showed that, so far, 17% support their presence in the city.
That might look bad to you. But let’s remember that Donald Trump got just 6% of the Washington D.C. last year (NOT a typo), so it actually is almost three times as high as his popularity there. And let’s also remember that, since the poll was released, another five days have passed with no homicides and far lower criminal activity.
I wonder how those same people would answer if they were polled today. I would bet the number is higher. Maybe a lot higher.
I’ll let you know if I see future polling among D.C. residents.
