Following is a quote from Jake Tapper, which he made on Monday during his CNN show, “The Lead:
There was a story in The Atlantic called “Bill Clinton: A Reckoning.” Chris Hayes said something the other day and other people have. But the accusers of Bill Clinton back in the ’90s were never given the credence and treated with the same respect that these women are being treated and I think that there is something to be said about how society has evolved since then, but in addition, it’s hard not to look back at that period and think, you know what? The media treated those women poorly.
You’ll pardon me if I’m not impressed.
Why should I be? Now, years and years later, after looking the other way while Bill Clinton reaped all the benefits of these women being ignored, and only because the Roy Moore accusations have opened this hypocrisy scab wide, Jake Rapper is nice enough to do a retrospective. Very insightful. Very courageous.
Does this mean he’ll stop looking the other way at the scandals currently swirling around Hillary Clinton and the DNC – huge scandals that have festered for years and which affect the safety and security of the United States?
Or, years and years from now, will Tapper do a retrospective on Uranium One, the collusion between Clinton’s campaign and foreign nationals (Russia and the Ukraine), and the Awan scandal, telling us “it’s hard not to look back at that period and think, you know what? The media handled those scandals poorly”?
So consider your soul uncleansed, Jake. But, if its any solace, know that you’re far from the only one.
