COSTCO\’S DINESH D\’SOUZA REVERSAL

In case you were wondering what effect thousands of angry customers can have on a retailer\’s disgraceful politically motivated behavior…

As noted yesterday, Costco – co-owned by Jim Sinegal, a big-time Democrat/Obama supporter – unilaterally decided to pull Dinish D\’Souza\’s latest book, “America – Imagine A World Without Her”, from the shelves of all its stores.  No explanation, just gone and good riddance.

Was this decision made based on poor sales?  Not hardly, since Mr. D\’Souza\’s book, according to amazon.com, was then – and is now (as you can see below), the single best-selling book in the country:

However, it is also a book that is strongly critical of “progressives” – which means Democrats in general, and Barack Obama in particular.

So why was it pulled?  I doubt you need me to do the math.

But that was yesterday, and this is today.

Excerpted from Oliver Darcy\’s article at theblaze.com:

Wholesaleretailer Costco announced Tuesday evening that they have reversed adecision to remove conservative filmmaker Dinesh D\’Souza\’sbestselling book from stores, following an outcry from thousands ofangry customers.

“Costcois not a book store. Our book shelf space is very limited,” astatement posted on Facebook said. “We exercise discipline in thebest utilization of that limited space based solely on what ourmembers are buying. We can\’t carry every title that our members areinterested in reading. We are constantly monitoring book sales, andmake decisions to pull books off the shelves frequently based onsales volume to make room for other titles. Politics or controversyover content do not influence our decisions.”

Yeah, right.  And that is why Costco pulled the single best-selling book in the country, which just happens to be written by someone with political views opposite those of the company\’s ownership.

If you believe Costco\’s explanation, then you probably believe that Golden Books should be put in the non-fiction section.

Personally, I think Costco was fine with D\’Souza\’s book being on its shelves – as long as it plodded along selling no more or less well than other current books.  But when it started flying off the store\’s shelves, Jim Sinegal and his pals could not stand the idea that they were, in effect, aiding and abetting an opponent of the beloved Democrat Party and their lord and savior, Barack Obama.

Well, it doesn\’t matter what I think, does it?  What matters is that, albeit grudgingly, Costco was shamed into restocking Dinesh D\’Souza\’s book.

So all Sinegal et al accomplished was to lose one day\’s sales, enrage their customer base, disgrace themselves, and now make laughingstocks of themselves by having to put the book right back where it was in the first place.

Congratulations, Jim.  Quite a trifecta for you.
