CONGRESSIONAL HYYPOCRITE ALERT

We have uncovered another (pardon the redundancy) congressional hypocrite.  This time it is a Republican:  congressperson Vance McAllister (R-LA).

Excerpted from Zach Parker and Sam Hanna Jr.\’s article at the Ouahchita (Louisiana) Citizen\’s web site:

FifthDistrict Congressman Vance McAllister, who campaigned for office lastfall as a devout Christian and devoted husband and father, was caughtin video surveillance two days before Christmas passionatelyembracing and kissing one of his congressional aides.

TheOuachita Citizenobtained the video recording from an anonymous source. The video canbe seen at www.ouachitacitizen.com.

Thewoman who McAllister, 40, was caught kissing for almost half a minuteis Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, 33, of 400 Zachary Way, Sterlington. She is McAllister\’s district scheduler.

Throughout last fall\’ congressional campaign, McAllister, a Republican from Swartz, touted his Christian faith and in one television commercial, he asked voters to pray for him. At least two other campaign television commercials featured McAllister walking hand in hand with his wife, Kelly, while their five children walked along. One television commercial captured the McAllister family in the kitchen of their home preparing breakfast before attending church.

Ok, it\’s not quite as meaty as California State Senator leland yee speaking out against guns, while taking money to facilitate illegal weapons getting into the hands of jihadists.  But it is every bit as hypocritical.

And saying things like “I have fallen, I ask for forgiveness, pray for me as my family and I work to get through this” isn\’t enough. The basis for McAllister\’s congressional victory was in no small part his adherence to the religious beliefs which he clearly is willing to turn on and off as quickly as he turns Ms. Peacock, who is also married, on and off (the video was a definite “on”).

Normally I would be conflicted on whether a philandering congressperson should resign, or just apologize profusely and try to continue in office.  But not this time.  McAllister was almost certainly elected because he sought out the votes of people whom his actions have clearly betrayed.

A resignation is in order.
