COLBERT KING EXPLAINS THE LETTER

I wanted to read Colbert King\’s entire piece.  I really did.

King, who writes for the Washington Post, gave us a commentary yesterday on why he objected to the letter 47Republican senators signed which told Iran that, withoutcongressional approval, any deal it makes with the USA is an”executive agreement” – entirely revocable any timea President decides to do so (which happens to be true).

I was against the issuing of this letter.  King is againstthe issuing of this letter.  So I interestedly started reading.

This is the paragraph where I stopped:

Thespirit of Chief Justice Roger B. Taney\’s opinion in the 1857DredScottdecision-that blacks “had no rights which the white man was bound torespect” – has descended upon the administration ofPresident Obama.

In other words, the letter was not written because Republicansfear a bad deal that will result in nuclear weapons for the singlemost prolific exporter of terrorism in the world. It was writtenbecause President Obama is a Black guy.

The end.  Over and out.

The worst part of this absolute bullshit (I won\’t sanitize it bysaying BS this time, King deserves the whole word) is not that it hasnothing to do with why the letter was written.  The worst partis that it does what left wing jerks like King seem incapable of understanding that they do:  it trivializes racism.

Yes, there is racism in the United States (along with everywhereelse in the world).  Yes it is a pervasive problem.  Yes,there are people who wouldn\’t give Barack Obama the time of daybecause of his skin color.

But this letter, which does nothingbut explain how the constitution works when it comes to makingtreaties, is about as relevant to racism as a cross country skiingevent is to a mosquito.

If you want racism to live and be well, Colbert, keep up the”good work” of invoking it at the drop of a hat, even when it isn\’t there.  You\’re doing just fine.

Me?  I\’ll keep hoping that people like you someday, somehow, realize how ridiculous you are, how damaging the trivializingof racism is,  and start treating it seriously, not as somekind of a left wing word-smithing competition to prove howintellectually elevated you are.
