Are you aware that, after an intensive nine month federal investigation, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been cleared of having anything to do with the closing of several lanes on the George Washington Bridge for a few days last year?
I\’m sure you recall the story itself. How could you not, given that every mainstream media venue known to mankind made leering allegations about Mr. Christie\’s assumed involvement in these closings The Story Of The Century” for over a month when it happened.
But now it turns out that federal investigators could find no evidence that he had any involvement at all. And, God knows, they certainly looked for it as hard as they could.
So this is a huge story, isn\’t it? Complete with interviews conducted among his accusers, and heartfelt apologies all around.
You\’re kidding, right? The networks barely mentioned it (the only one which did – at least so far as I know – was NBC). These are the same networks that – when it looked like Christie\’s head was on the political chopping block – gave the same story a combined 88 minutes of coverage in its first two days last year.
Web site-wise, at a quick glance (as of 11:40AM) I cannot find any mention of it at all on any of the major networks\’ news pages – not ABC, or NBC, or CBS.
As for the New York Times? It is not on their web page either. Not even a little “and in other news” squib.
And, yes, these are the same mainstream media which, by contrast, gave New York Governor Andrew Cuomo\’s summary disbanding of his ethics commission – just as it started investigating the people around him – the 1-2-day-and-out treatment.
In other words, Christie\’s non-existent involvement in a few lane closings was monumental, titanic news. Cuomo\’s undisputed, 100% factual closing-down of an ethics commission, as it investigated his people\’s ethics, was nothing worth pursuing.
I discuss media bias a lot in here. Any doubt about why?
