CHICAGO UNDER LORI LIGHTFOOT AND BRANDON JOHNSON: THE DATA SO FAR

So how is Chicago doing now that hard-left, police-hating Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been replaced by harder-left, police-hating Mayor Brandon Johnson?

Here, from the unfortunately named but highly useful heyjackass.com website, are the data so far:

Year To Date
Shot & Killed: 303
Shot & Wounded: 1241
Total Shot: 1544
Total Homicides: 330

Let’s remember that this is early July – just the beginning of summer, which is high season for violence in Chicago.

And let’s also remember that this website is not measuring the countless violence/robbery/physical damage in retail establishments downtown, especially in the once-tourist attraction of the Magnificent Mile…

…which has caused so many tourists to go elsewhere, Chicagoans who used to shop and dine there to now avoid it – especially at night – and businesses which, between the violence/robbery/damage, the resulting stratospheric insurance rates and the lower foot traffic, to close, one after the other.

Great job, Lori.  Terrific follow-up Brandon.

On a personal note, I owned a business on the Magnificent Mile for 33 years.  I closed it in 2016.

Lucky me.
