CBS & MEDIA BIAS

Let me start with an end.

Here is the end of CBS correspondent Chip Reid\’s report, last night, on how the ebola crisis is playing out politically, and the response from news anchor Scott Pelley:

REID:One independent liberal group released an ad criticizing Republicansfor cutting spending that they say could have led to an Ebolavaccination. Scott, that ad is titled “Republican Cuts Kill,”which shows just how tough the political battle over Ebola has come.

SCOTT PELLEY:Chip, thank you very much.

Well, there you go.  CBS viewers\’last piece of information about ebola – completely unchallenged – is how those Republican bastards cut funding that might have stopped it, maybe saved a lot of lives both here and, presumably, in West Africa.  How could they be so hateful, so mean-spirited, so racist?

Except, what neither Reid nor Pelley bothered to mention is that the claim is an absolute 100% lie.

I personally debunked this lie two weeks ago, by putting up the actual yearly funding numbers under President Bush and President Obama – which showed that funding for the National Institute of Health (NIH) jumped 64%, when Bush was President and dropped 4% under Obama.

And that is before we get to the fact – and it is an indisputable one – that President Obama, in this year\’s budget, personally proposed a cut in NIH funding.  Let me say that again.  President Obama personally proposed a cut in NIH funding this year.

But don\’t take my word for it.  Glenn Kessler, a lifelong Democrat who does fact-checking for the Washington Post, gave it his “4 Pinocchios” rating – which means….Kessler is calling it exactly what I\’m calling it:  an absolute, 100% lie.

Chip Reid and Scott Pelley, therefore, fed CBS viewers a complete lie, which would benefit Democrats and damage Republicans, about a crisis that is one of the biggest concerns of voters – maybe the single biggest – one week before the election.

Media bias?  You tell me.

I wonder how many more books Sharyl Attkisson will sell because of CBS\’s pathetic, unprofessional, unethical display of partisanship posing as news.
