CALIFORNIA’S FEDERAL MONEY FRAUD: IS IT THE BIGGEST OF ALL?

We know that Minnesota is a cesspool of fraud.  Billions of dollars gone, via health care fraud, day care centers that didn’t exist, etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

But, fraud-wise, California may well leave it in the dust.

From Max Bacall’s article at Fox News:

A journalist who claims that California has lost at least $180 billion due to fraud joined “Will Cain Country” to share the findings of his exposé entitled “Gavin Newsom’s Empire of Fraud.”

Chris Rufo of City Journal co-authored the piece. He told host Will Cain on Tuesday that California’s fraud stems from three main sources: Medi-Cal fraud, unemployment fraud and general welfare fraud.

“And if you add these all together, under Gavin Newsom, experts and HHS officials estimate that California has lost somewhere between $180 and $280 billion. Now that’s like the GDP of New Zealand. It’s a lot of money,” said Rufo.

He said he hopes to spur additional action through his reporting, and that a big area of focus for him has been California’s in-home care program.

The program is intended to help support those who cannot work because they must provide full-time care for a loved one. But Rufo said it has become the most common job in the state.

“We’re paying approximately 800,000 people to stay home or to stay in the homes of the care recipients. And because it operates essentially on an honor system… it’s all done in private,” he said.

There is more.  Much, much more.  Here is the link again.  Please read every word.   Then think about how many billions went out, who got the money, and how many people who actually had needs did not get them fulfilled because the money was making these fraudsters wealthy.

And please note that Mr. Rufo blames the federal government as well as California…presumably for watching this gargantuan amount of BS money being handed out and not going after California where the fraud was taking place.

Incidentally, as I type this, California’s Attorney General, Rob Bonta, probably because of the article just quoted, is holding a press conference, bragging – incredibly – about how assiduous his office is in rooting out such fraud, and telling us we should be looking elsewhere, not in his state.

Uh……maybe he’d like to answer Mr. Rufo’s accusations about massive fraud in California, and the evidence he has provided to show it exists/how many billions and billions of dollars has been stolen.

Don’t expect that any time soon.

More on this as it progresses.
