So I\’m watching the Today Show this morning.
It is now 7:20 – well into the broadcast, thus well into the time when the news would be presented. And, during that 20 minutes, the Today team has done a major story on the latest poll showing Donald Trump has increased his lead in the Republican field….and no other polling at all.
“Ok”, I think to myself, “if that is the only important polling news of the day, this makes perfect sense.”
Except that it isn\’t. Not even close.
Read this excerpt from Mark Murray\’s article – at NBCnews.com (that\’s right – NBC News\’s own web site) and see for yourself:
This focus on national security and terrorism comes as theNBC/WSJ poll finds President Obama\’s job-approval rating at 43 percent, whichis down two points from late October.
Indeed, it is Obama\’s lowest overall standing since right before the2014 midterm elections.
Just 37 percent approve of the president\’s handling of foreign policy, and only 34 percent approve of his handling of the terrorist militants known asISIS in Iraq and Syria.
In addition, only 20 percent of the public believes the country isheaded in the right direction, versus a whopping 70 percent who think it\’s onthe wrong track.
And 73 percent say they want the next president to take a differentapproach from President Obama\’s. “This will become a high hurdle for theDemocrats at some stage of the 2016 election,” says Yang, the Democraticpollster.
Amazing.
A major news organization\’s own poll, showing the that the Democrat President of the United States is seen as a disaster on foreign policy, especially the terrorist threat, is buried and not even reported. Even a Democrat pollster saying it will have a major effect on next year\’s presidential election (which, at present, means it might hurt NBC\’s beloved Hillary Clinton) is not enough to move it into the Today Show\’s lineup of stories.
I talk a lot about media bias in here. This is why.
